ROSS JENKINS | PRE-SOLIHULL

The gaffer previews Saturday's fixture with Solihull Moors.

Ross Jenkins has said that he believes the feel-good factor is starting to show signs of returning to the Hoops’ squad, ahead of this weekend’s clash with Solihull Moors.

A much-improved performance against Boreham Wood last Saturday didn’t secure any points for City.

However, with key personnel back in the fray for selection ahead of a tricky Christmas Period, the gaffer has re-instated that his side have to be prepared.

“I think so,” Jenkins said when asked if he could see a positive result coming closer.

“We’re trying to reflect back to that seven-game period where we had a really good run, and I don’t think too much has changed.

“We’re trying to reflect back on how that felt, and I thought at Boreham Wood that feeling was back.

“It’s the first time we’ve had a lot of our main starters on the pitch, when you factor in injuries and international breaks.

“Some of our football was really good, easy on the eye and the main thing was that it felt good. The boys came in at half-time really pumped.

“We felt the rhythm with our passing, and it was all coming back again. I think the Christmas period is going to be difficult against two very strong teams.”

Solihull are the visitors on Saturday before a festive double header against Dorking Wanderers.

The last match between the two clubs ended in 3-3 draw at Damson Park in early September, but Jenkins believes that City have to be prepared for another big challenge.

“Solihull have been in the division a lot longer than us, but we had a good run-out with them earlier in the season and we probably should’ve won that game.

“We know they’ve made some new additions so we have to be prepared for that.

“I think they have the resources, I think they have the backing with personnel and players that have been around the EFL.

“They’ve started well. They’ve had a dip in form recently so that’s something we need to be aware of, but when we played them at their place they were bang in form and went on a run.

“We need to appreciate they have some good players. They’re consistent, they have goal-threat, and they’re good at defending their box as well.

“We know it’s going to be a challenge but every week for us is a challenge, but the quicker everybody can accept that, the quicker everyone can get on task with what we need to do, because every game is a big game for us.

“We’re playing against teams who have been full-time for many years now. We’re trying to get to that level, whilst winning games, whilst getting used to the league and the relentlessness.

“We’re juggling a lot at the moment, but when we get to Saturday we need to focus on doing the job against Solihull.”
