New Manager ready to go.

Oxford City are delighted to announce Lyon Theoharous as the new Oxford City Women’s Manager.

In his first interview with the club, he said: “I’m really excited and I just can’t wait to get started.

“I think I’ve had a really nice period of time to look at what we have at the moment and some of the positives of how things are structured and what we have in place.

“It’s good to have that period of understanding and that period will continue during my first few weeks but also then to build on what we have.”

This role was incredibly competitive with so many applicants and Theoharous has expressed is pride in being awarded the job. He said: “I'm immensely proud and it’s about showing the team how good we can be and proving to the players how good I am.

“First and foremost I believe in people, I believe that we have to have good people as foundations. I know it’s a bit of a cliche but I think when you wear the badge there are things you represent.

“When it comes to the playing side, can we be as well-rounded. A jack of all trades, master of none, that’s something I adhere to.

“If we can have that diversity and adaptability in how we play that can begin to transpire into being unpredictable but also transform our players into being well-rounded.”

Coming off the back of a really successful season, Theoharous is excited to get started. He said: “I’m a big believer of evolution over revolution. We don’t really need a revolution to continue, it’s just about evolving on what we’ve done really well. There are some strong opposition but iron sharpens iron.

“That is going to be the litmus test of where we are and I’m excited to get going.”

Theoharous was quick to get to work, the first few trial sessions have already begun and recruitment is something that is important to the new manager.

“The recruitment process is really important for us. It’s about bringing in good people, good footballers and we want to build on the player. How can we help your career and how can you help us?”

Why Oxford City?

“It’s the ambition of the club that pulled me towards it, on both the men’s and the women’s side. It has been something that is driving forwards so hopefully we can drive that forward and prove them right.”

The women’s side of the club has grown massively since the end of the season with City set for a record breaking number of female players at the club and something that Theoharous is incredibly excited about. He said: “it’s the dream to have so many young girls looking at the first team as a legitimate pathway.

“The face that they are turning to JPL leagues and looking to improve is a key factor that will make them better, so I think it’s about building a love of the game but can we progress them to the first team and get them in and around it?”

Everyone at Oxford City wishes Lyon a warm welcome and all the best for the upcoming season.
